LEARNING TO DIVE ON KANDHOLHU
Kandholhu is a wonderful place to learn to dive, thanks to the special beauty of the island reef, the other many world class dive sites in the vicinity and the exclusive nature of the island. In most cases if you and your partner decide to discover scuba diving together, it will be with your own private instructor. Kandholhu house reef is a stunning place for your first diving experience so please read further to learn about the many options available to you. All beginner course prices include full equipment, instruction, all required study materials, logbook and certification (except DSD), but not boat fees and are subject to 10% Service Charge and 8,0% GST (Government tax).
DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING (DSD) is the well established “try dive” course for complete beginners and is an easy and fun introduction into diving. It takes place on beautiful Kandholhu house reef. The course is just two and a half hours, but you will quickly discover the amazing appeal and wonder of scuba diving – the feeling of weightlessness, breathing underwater, swimming with and like a fish! Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours; US$160 plus 10% Service Charge and 8,0% GST.
After your first experience, you have several options if you want to explore more: Ideally, you should continue on THE OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE (OWD) which only takes four days including the DSD and includes four open water dives where you will see much of the spectacular marine life the Maldives has to offer such as sharks, rays, turtles and other wonderful animals. US$750 all included plus boat fees, 10% Service Charge and 8,0% GST. You can also add the PADI NITROX COURSE to your Open Water Diver for just US$180 more plus the 10% Service Charge and 8,0% GST.
Alternatively, if you are short of time, THE PADI SCUBA DIVER is a short 2 day course (including the DSD) and includes one dive off the boat. This certificate allows the holder to dive to max. 12m, but always accompanied by a PADI professional. The course is effectively the first half of the Open Water Diver course and is upgradeable to the OWD any time in the future. Duration: 2 days; Price: US$500 plus boat fees, 10% Service Charge and 8,0% GST.
In addition, if you have already done your pool training and theory at home (THE REFERRAL COURSE), then why not enjoy your four open water qualifying dives in the warm Indian Ocean waters and amid the magnificent marine life of the Maldives – all included for US$480 plus boat fees, 10% Service Charge and 8,0% GST.
| All courses are according the standards of Padi. Before you start with a dive course you have to show us a full medical statement, signed by your doctor and not older than 1 year. (If you can answer all the questions on this form with a "no", a medical examination is highly recommended, but only necessary if you are over 45 years.) |

| Enriched Air Diver/Nitrox | This course allows you to dive with an higher oxygen % and therefore simultaneously decrease the % of nitrogen in our tank. This means while diving with nitrox, we breathe less nitrogen, thereby dive safer and decrease the risk of DCS. We can also use the extended no deco-time of nitrox to sometimes stay longer at depth. | 2 dives |
